Being a Student-Athlete
Student-athletes have all the pressures that students have, plus additional pressures and expectations to perform in athletics. Performances for student-athletes are compromised without sound knowledge of and effective responses to mental health issues, access to timely and impactful resources. The general areas of student-athlete performance include:
Can I maintain the expected GPA to stay on my scholarship or on my team’s roster?
Am I going to do well enough this semester to graduate in time?
Will my marks reach the standard to get into college or get a job right out of post-secondary?
Am I going to lose my starting spot?
Am I failing my team by not performing at my highest?
Why can’t I recover from my injury?
Social & Community Performance
Am I doing enough to give back to the community?
Are my parents proud of me?
Am I going to have status on campus this year?
what can dew. provide for me?
Student-athletes are known to have hectic schedules, going from classes to practice to film sessions to study hall, with additional challenges in finding personal downtime to focus on themselves. Often, these demands become extraordinary, resulting in mental strain and, sometimes, breakdowns, which have negative impacts on performance. dew. is built to provide student-athletes with personal awareness and techniques to navigate these extraordinary pressures to keep mental health performance in top condition and is in a manageable state to sustain overall performance.
